A new little book! ‘day job #2’ features more incredible people. It is a similar idea to the first, with a diverse and different group of creative people, including musicians The Double Happiness / Markos Hughes, photographer/architect / Miri Badger, painter / Naushin Rahman, interior designer/yoga teacher/ayurvedic marma therapist and Ellie Farrington, maker/carpenter/artist.

This zine series came from being concerned that it’s too easy for my friends with diverse talents to not acknowledge their outside interests and artistic work as being as valid as their professional career. Like the first zine, it explores the conflict/collaboration between work and non-work lives; however, I have aimed to maintain a variety of perspectives, interest areas, life stages and backgrounds - in music, photography, painting, sculpture, yoga and spirituality. There’s a lot more to us than our professional interests, and we may find our outside interests influence our professional, and vice-versa. I'm trying to not just validate the urban planning side of myself, but also the collage and art side too, and I want other people to feel they can as well.

I hope there is something for everyone to take from the thoughts and actions of Ellie, Markos, Miri, Naushin and the Double Happiness. I’m sure you will be inspired in some way, I sure was when I read their words. I’m so thankful to and proud of them all for taking part in this, and it is a privilege to hear what they all have to say and has to show.

You can get one by sending me a message, instore in West End at Jet Black Cat, Avid Reader and Open House, or buy it online here. You can also still get day job #1 too!

100% of the profits of day job #2 go to Beyond Blue, chosen because getting help and having support is really important, and it is personal too in that myself and many people I care deeply about struggle with mental health.

Big thanks to everyone involved, for their perspectives and patience and their continued bravery, questioning and experimentation with such beautiful results.
